What we collect, why, who else sees it, how long we keep it, and how to make us delete it.
Deleting your account and your data
What we delete when you ask, the one thing we are obliged to keep and why, and what disappears on its own without anyone asking.
How to ask
Send an email from the address on your account to [email protected] with the word "delete" and, if you like, a note about whether you want the whole account closed or only some of it removed.
You do not have to give a reason. Deleting your account is not a request we evaluate or talk you out of.
We will reply to confirm the request before we act on it. That confirmation exists to protect you: without it, anybody who guessed your email address could close your account and destroy your conversations.
What is deleted
Everything that identifies you: the sign-in record for your email address, every active session, and any outstanding sign-in or recovery link.
Everything you wrote: your conversations and the answers in them, the uploaded documents you attached, and the practice text from rehearsals.
This is a deletion of the rows, not a flag that hides them. Once it has run, the conversations are not retrievable by us or by you, so please export anything you want to keep before you ask.
The one thing we keep, and why
If you have ever paid us, we must keep the records of that payment — the order, the quote and the subscription — because tax law requires us to be able to show what was charged, and because a payment dispute can arrive months later. Deleting them would destroy the records we are legally obliged to hold.
What is kept is the transaction, not the person. In the same operation that retains those rows, the stored keyed hash of the address they were paid with is cleared, and the account record itself is stripped to an opaque key: no name, no locale, no market. What remains is a record that a payment was made, and it cannot be tied back to you through our database.
If you have never paid us, there is nothing to retain and your account row is deleted outright.
What disappears on its own, without asking
A conversation you tried without registering: 7 days.
A private conversation on an account: 12 months, and you can delete any single one sooner from the sidebar.
The text of an uploaded document: 90 days. The row saying a document was used stays, because it is part of the record of the conversation; the contents are blanked.
Practice text from a rehearsal: 90 days.
A sign-in or account-recovery link: 15 minutes, and it can be used once.
A share link: closed by default, and when you do open one it expires and you can revoke it.
Deleting one conversation instead of everything
You do not have to close your account to get rid of a conversation. Open the conversation in the sidebar and delete it there. That removes that conversation and its contents immediately, and leaves the rest of the account alone.
How long it takes
We aim to complete a deletion within a week, and we are required to complete it within 30 days of confirming your request. We will tell you when it is done.
Nothing is charged for a deletion and closing your account does not by itself create a refund — the Refund Policy applies separately, and if you have unused credits you may want to read it before you close the account.
